Welcome

Planning Renewables provides up-to-date and useful information for local authority planning officers and councillors when dealing with planning applications for renewable energy developments.

Covering areas such as wind, biomass, energy from waste, solar power, and many more, the website aims to be a valuable resource for the planning community.

The website arose out of feedback from attendees to an on-going series of workshops (see events page) on renewable energy for councillors and planning officers. These workshops were launched in 2004 as part of the then DTI's 'It's Only Natural' campaign.

If you have an enquiry or a suggestion about the site, or wish to notify us about a broken link, please let us know by visiting our contact us page.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is currently working to improve its range of websites. To enable them to do this, they are asking users to take part in a short survey. If you have 5 minutes to spare to share your views, please complete the survey.
