Planning Renewables provides up-to-date and useful information for local authority planning officers and councillors when dealing with planning applications for renewable energy developments.
Covering areas such as wind, biomass, energy from waste, solar power, and many more, the website aims to be a valuable resource for the planning community.
The website arose out of feedback from attendees to an on-going series of workshops (see events page) on renewable energy for councillors and planning officers. These workshops were launched in 2004 as part of the then DTI's 'It's Only Natural' campaign.

Planning Conditions
This half-day webinar will give you the opportunity to improve your knowledge of planning conditions for renewable energy technologies, with a particular focus on wind turbines.
Advanced Planning for Wind Workshop
This full-day workshop will examine the technical aspects of wind turbine/farm developments and allow participants to learn more about key issues such as shadow flicker, noise and aviation, and hence be able to make better evidence-based decisions. A team of experts in wind turbine development and planning will be present to answer questions and discuss issues throughout the day.
Planning for Biomass
This full day workshop will examine the technical aspects of biomass developments and allow participants to learn more about key issues such as emission, transport, fuel supply and energy crops; and hence be able to make better evidence based decisions. A team of experts in the fields of biomass technology and planning will be present to answer questions and discuss issues throughout the day.
Whole Committee Policy and Evidence Base Workshops
This half day workshop will give councillors the opportunity to discuss regional and local policy and improve your knowledge of the policy development through PPS22, PPS1 Supplement on Climate Change and the Practice Guidance that supports it, and the future challenges set out in the UK Renewable Energy Strategy July 2009.
