Welcome

Welcome to the updated and new-look Planning Renewables website.

The Planning Renewables website is aimed at providing the most up-to-date and useful information for local authority planning officers and councillors. It should provide support and guidance when dealing with planning applications for renewable energy developments.

Areas such as wind, biomass, waste-to-energy and solar power, as well as many more, are all covered in relation to planning and the site is constantly being updated.

The aim is to ensure the website becomes a valuable resource for planners and councillors when dealing with planning applications for renewable energy installations.

The website arose out of feedback from more than 1,000 attendees to an on-going series of workshops on renewable energy for councillors and planning officers. These workshops were launched in 2004 as part of the then DTI's (now DECC’s) 'It's Only Natural' campaign.

It is extremely important that information on the site is continually kept up-to-date and relevant, therefore we are always seeking feedback and comments from our users. If you have an enquiry or a suggestion, please let us know by visiting our contact us page.
