Biomass and biomass chp - Public opinion
As with any new industrial development, proposals for a biomass plant may be met with opposition. This is more likely with large scale developments, where there may be concerns over visual impact, risks and effects on ecology and wildlife. Such concern should be considered relative to the economic benefits such a development could bring the local economy, particularly if the biomass fuel is to be sourced locally.
Good communications between developers, planners and local communities and ensuring a high level of awareness and understanding can help in promoting a biomass energy development. This section provides further examples of public response to biomass energy developments.
